The Old Home Store VINTAGE KITCHEN
Vintage Recipe Boxes, mostly from the USA are keenly sought by TOHS.
Recipe boxes like this mid-century example produced in the USA by Ohio Art are very collectable, especially if they are crammed with personal recipe collections.
These collections are a unique insight into the family table. Unfortunately, you rarely discover the cook's name, but invariably you do learn the names of friends and loved-ones as recipes are often attributed to them and their tastes!

'Call me and we'll be right over!'
The Old Home Store will be trying out and featuring some of the more quirky found recipes, and looking for clues about the family cooks who collected and wrote them.
The Old Home Store has two boxes which belonged to this home cook, and all together about 500 of her collected recipes. Most of the recipes come from Carolina, yet some are written in Swedish - or 'Swinglish. Several are marked as 'Don's favourites' - presumably her very lucky and well-fed husband.
The collection of handwritten, typed and ephemerals starts in 1912, and goes on to the late '70s.
